FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is parent coaching?
Parent coaching is an effective, evidence-based approach that is supported by research. Coaching is typically short term and targets specific goals that are developed using a collaborative approach. Coaching can support you, the parent, by providing education, strategies, and tools to help your child thrive. In our parent program you can invite nannies, grandparents, or anyone who plays a pivotal role in your child’s life.
What does a coaching session look like?
Coaching sessions are conducted using a virtual platform. Tele-coaching allows us to connect no matter where you may live or work. We will meet for 45 minutes and focus on the goals we have developed. As your coach, I will listen, validate, support, and provide feedback to promote change. Our time together will allow for parent training, sharing of resources, and/or providing strategies to assist you in reaching your goal(s). At the end of each session, we will reflect on your achievements and define the next steps.
How often are sessions scheduled?
Typically, we meet monthly, but based on your needs, we can be flexible and meet more often. If you select a six-week coaching program, it must be completed within six months from the first session. Schedule your time via Calendly.

Within the scope of the coaching sessions, individual speech therapy is not provided. Based on the goals we develop, I may do a child observation or practice a strategy with you and your child. Virtual speech therapy with a focus on social emotional learning may be available. If you are interested in these services, please email susan@thesocialcoach.net.
